Egyptian Hip-Hop
Egyptian Hip-Hop are about as obscure as that band you started with your younger cousin after your mom bought you a Fender Strat starter pack, your cousin figured out how to use garage band and you came up with a somewhat clever name not taken as far as myspace goes. Well probably a bit more known. A good find for you indie-fags.
They’re another English 4-piece discovered from an internet forum, this time, one of the band members is actually a forum member. They have a laid back indie sound with some syncopated vocals and synth in there. The songs are more suited for some focused study sessions and a nice highway drive than a party mix. But still, I could call the few songs I have heard exciting and upbeat, for sure. The obscure sense of humor can be seen and heard as well. Just look at their hair styles.
Rad Pitt is the best song of the bunch, “the bunch” being a bunch of bedroom demos, and as a forum member said, they’re “charming”. Its got a nice synth melody and understated vocal line that almost sounds powerful despite the chillness of it all. ...I have no idea what last sentence means, but it reads like some half-assed Rolling Stone write up doesn’t it?
Trust me, this band is well worth your time and I can definitely see them making a name for themselves in the future. Their myspace status was once “batman for lashes” they can’t be bad.
